BYLT Basics

01. Project Introduction

BYLT Basics

As a $200 million omnichannel disruptor in the oversaturated premium essentials category, BYLT needed technology that could match its explosive growth trajectory and competitive velocity. Instead, the brand's tech stack — built on an off-the-shelf data orchestrator and a complex content management system — created critical bottlenecks: frequent site instability, prolonged deployment cycles and inadequate analytics capabilities. When technology became an obstacle rather than an accelerator, BYLT's e-commerce team engaged Coldsmoke to architect a solution.

02. Our Goals & Key Results

Our Goals & Key Results

The solution included migration to a robust, enterprise-grade digital experience platform that empowers BYLT's e-commerce team with deployment agility, paired with a complete frontend architecture rebuild to unlock the full performance and flexibility advantages of headless commerce.

  • 35% Anniversary Sale revenue increase YoY
  • 25% Increase in time savings for the e-commerce team
  • 20% Increase in development team bandwidth

Discovery

Beyond the daily operational friction of their existing tech stack, BYLT faced two critical deadlines: their high-volume Anniversary Sale and Black Friday Cyber Monday, the industry's most crucial revenue period. In the short term, the e-commerce team needed the ability to deploy site changes rapidly without developer dependencies and implement granular event tracking to maximize conversion during these peak shopping events. Long term, BYLT sought to build a sustainable competitive advantage by partnering with best-in-class technology providers capable of scaling with the brand's growth.

Deliverables

Coldsmoke led the migration to Pack's enterprise digital experience platform, enabling BYLT to leverage Hydrogen, Shopify's React-based framework for custom storefronts, and Oxygen, Shopify's globally distributed hosting infrastructure. Technology partner Fueled then executed the platform integration, migrating analytics pixels and third-party application scripts to the Hydrogen environment while implementing custom attribution events and comprehensive data tracking across the entire site. The team completed this complex technical transformation in just 90 days.

“Anything you can do in this competitive landscape to get an edge is a huge win. Coldsmoke carried the ball for us. We have the most dedicated support, the best players that allow us to move at the speed that we want to move at. That’s the hardest thing to find.”
